In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a super-speed effect in Adobe After Effects; inspired by many different speedster superheroes, such as Quicksilver (Avengers and X-Men) and the recent Morbius film.

From Quicksilver to The Flash and even Morbius, there are tons of superheroes that rely on their super-speed abilities to save the day. The good news is that creating these effects doesn’t have to be a difficult process.
In fact, this tutorial was created with the beginner in mind, including some basics on creating masks and adjustment layers.
This AE tutorial will cover:
- The basics of creating composition and masks.
- An introduction to adjustment layers.
- How to add effects and create keyframes.
- How to create a very simple super-speed effect using simple masking.
- How to add our Energy Bursts to create smoke burst effects.
